Kirstein, Lincoln (Edward)
(4 may. 1907, Rochester, N.Y., EE.UU.–5 ene. 1996, Nueva York, N.Y.).

Experto en danza, empresario artístico y escritor estadounidense. Se graduó en Harvard, donde fundó la revista literaria Hound & Horn. Siendo económicamente independiente, centró su interés artístico en el ballet y, en 1933, convenció al coreógrafo George Balanchine para que se trasladara a EE.UU. a fundar una escuela y compañía de ballet. En 1934 se inauguró la School of American Ballet, que Kirstein dirigió de 1940 a 1989. Junto con Balanchine fundaron varias compañías de ballet hasta culminar con el New York City Ballet (1948), del cual fue director general hasta 1989. Escribió siete libros sobre ballet, entre ellos Dance (1935), un texto clásico de la historia de la danza.
